Experience Designer - Nature’s Path

 About The Opportunity

As Experience Designer - Nature's Path, you'll be overseeing & managing all the creative for one of our four core brands; in this case, Nature's Path Foods. This will mostly be visual creative but will also include less tangibles like tone, voice, any expressions of the Sub Brand. You will know, think, feel and understand this brand like few others. You will be the Sub Brand Creative Champion, the Design Rebel on the Nature's Path Food Creative Team.

You'll help define challenging creative briefs and guide innovative concept development, ensuring all creative is effective; on brand, on brief, on time and on budget. This will mean ensuring it gets done, either by internal or external teams, or even doing the creative yourself, as required. You'll champion the solution throughout the organization. In addition, you'll evaluate, guide and track results on a quarterly basis, and you'll also be responsible to continue to define, design, describe, and defend your Sub Brand. You'll also work closely with external creative agencies and other vendors when required.

Critical outcomes for this role include:

  • Oversee and/or create the creative content the Sub Brand requires, be it for web, social, print, outdoor, trade, sales, in field; wherever and whenever your Sub Brand is expressed and/or experienced.
  • Along with the rest of your Sub Brand Team, you will help define the opportunity and/or problem to be solved, and define it in a Creative Brief.
  • You will redefine this brief for Creative (if required), and help delegate these projects to designer/s, internal or external; or when required, just roll up your sleeves and do it yourself.
  • Review design solutions to assess their validity and appropriateness for your brand, ensuing they are also on brief, on time and on budget.
  • Present, explain, and if needed, defend the solutions to Sub Brand Team, and higher levels as required.
  • Represent the Sub Brand from a creative standpoint & manage relationships with any external agencies, and vendors, including Design Agencies, Photographers, Illustrators, Videographers etc.
  • Maintain your Sub Brand Standards Manual, and its various editions.
  • Represent the Creative Design perspective within your Sub Brand Team, and work with the other Design Managers to ensure quality design is flourishing throughout the organization.
  • Mentor the designer(s) on your team as required.
  • Reports to Design Lead, and Designer will be reporting to you, so will be reviewing/meeting w/ Designers as required.

 

Success in this role will require:

Education

  • Graduation from a recognized university or college with a specialization in graphic design or advertising communications, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • At least 7-10 years' graphic design experience in creating innovative design solutions. Packaged goods experience preferred but not essential.
  • Must be able to present/defend a creative rationale for design solutions, and have experience presenting work.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat)
  • Working knowledge of Premiere, Final Cut, After Effects an asset
  • Understanding of digital technologies, trends and the overall field of industry
  • Project management skills and ability to lead and direct outside resources
  • Experience in packaging production, video production, and photo shoot oversight, managing the processes from brief to shoot/execution to final edit and approval
