About this Opportunity

As Copywriter, you'll be the Voice for our four Sub Brands. You will know, think, feel and understand and be able to express these brands like few others.

You'll help define and defend the unique tone, voice and style for each Sub Brand, and express it in long and short form, and in a variety of styles, both hard and soft sell, ensuring the copy for each project is on brand & on brief. Oh, and of course, on awesome. You'll also be responsible to continue to define, describe, and defend all of your Sub Brands. You'll also work closely with external creative agencies and other vendors when required.

 

Critical Outcomes for this Position

  • Write or oversee the writing of copy for all written expressions of each brand, including packaging, blogs, press releases, social posts, web copy, sales & trade materials.
  • Review written solutions if done by others to assess their validity and appropriateness for your brand, ensuring they are also on brief & on time.
  • Present, explain, and if needed, defend the solutions to Sub Brand Team, and higher levels as required.
  • Help maintain all Sub Brand Standards Manuals, and their various editions, from a copy/voice perspective.
  • Represent the Voice perspective within each Sub Brand Team, ensure quality 'voice management' is flourishing throughout the organization.
  • Reports to Design Lead.

Technical Expertise Required

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ability to work in Adobe Creative Suite an asset.
  • Ideally have knowledge of packaged food industry, the natural/organic sector preferred.
  • Project management skills and ability to lead and direct outside resources an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects on various levels with different and converging timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal, consensus-building skills, with the ability to communicate and achieve results across multiple audiences in a complex organizational structure.
  • Can think quickly, be decisive under pressure, and motivate and engage the team to produce the best possible results.
  • Up on current trends, both in the industry and in the world at large.

 

Education

  • BA degree in Communications, Journalism or related field, with related experience in graphic design or advertising communications, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience

  • At least 3-5 years' experience in a copywriting role. Packaged goods experience preferred but not essential.
  • Must be able to present/defend a creative rationale for design solutions, and have experience presenting work.
  • Must have the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Has the initiative to source information and gather answers to questions pertinent to the success of the project.
