About the Opportunity:

The Regulatory Affairs Coordinator develops technical label copy for company and private brand products, provides information to the business on regulatory matters and manages issues pertaining to labelling and advertising.

Critical Outcomes for this Role Include:

  • Develop label copy, evaluate packaging and product formulations to ensure the correct labeling of new and existing products against the appropriate regulations, guidelines, internal labeling standards & policies
  • Deliver against key milestones to help support on-time delivery for all projects
  • Review preliminary formulations/concepts to help provide direction on potential or requested claims for new products
  • Resolve regulatory issues raised internally, externally, or by government agencies and initiate corrective action as required
  • Approve all new suppliers and new ingredients and ensure all suppliers’ certifications and audit reports are up-to-date
  • Apply for all certifications (Kosher, Non GMO Project, Organic, Gluten-Free, Whole Grains) for new products
  • Maintain and update customer portal system (SAIGOL, Enterprise Facility Audit, ReposiTrak, C-TPAT, etc.)
  • Assist plant in preparation for the third party audits

Success in this role will require:

Education

  • University education or equivalent in food science or nutrition and/or chemistry

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with consumer products labeling
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the US and Canadian Food & Drugs Act and Regulations and other consumer packaging regulations
  • Must be highly organized team player with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Experience with CFIA FSEP (Food Safety Enhancement Program), FDA FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) Preventive Controls for Human Food and other International requirements.
  • Knowledge in IFS and Genesis software is an asset
